Michele Bianchini, Italian saxophonist, is dedicated to the development and research of new repertoire in contemporary music both as a soloist and as a member of different chamber music ensembles.

 

He has performed at renowned Italian and foreign institutions such as New York University, Symphony Space Hall (USA), “Megaron” in Athens (Greece), Eastman School of Music Rochester (Usa), Fabrik in Potdsam (Germany), Hartford University, Colorado College, International Festival of contemporary music in Perm (Russia), Moscow Philarmonic, Moscow Conservatory, Intersonanzen 2016 Festival of Contemporary Music in Potdsam, 17° World Saxophone congress in Strasburg (France), Ravenna Festival, 18° World Saxophone Congress, L’Aquila contemporanea, 35° Nuovi Spazi Musicali Festival di musica contemporanea, Festival Germi di musica contemporanea di Roma, Festival di Nuova musica di Macerata, among others.

 

He has premiered works by: R. Cendo, A. Khubeev, Wei Chieh-Lin, N. Tzortzis, G. Colombo Taccani, A. Gentile, A. Sbordoni, B. Strobl, D. Ghezzo, J. Eaton, A. Cavallari, T. Papatrechas, K. Gerardi, L. Gregoretti, M. Porro, F. De Rossi Re, V. Palumbo, R. Vacca, S. Taglietti, V. Guastella, M. Pagotto, among others.

Since 2016, he has organized ilSuono Contemporary Music Week together with the Greek composer Theocharis Papatrechas. This project, annually held in Città di Castello, consist in a series of events dedicated to contemporary music.

 

He has won several Italian and International competitions. He graduated in Saxophone with highest honors from the Conservatory of Music in Perugia, under the guidance of M ° Roberto Todini getting a scholarship as best graduate of the academic year. He studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Pekka Savijoki. He attended several master classes with C. Delangle, J.M. Londeix, E. Rousseau, F. Mondelci, R. Todini and V. Veldi. In 2014 he received the teaching qualification from the Conservatory of Music in Adria.

 

He has recorded works for the American labels ICIA and Navona records, and two cds for the contemporary music section of the Italian label  “A simple lunch record”: Omaggio a Burri with the Ensemble Suono Giallo and …à bout de souffle… with Nyky Trio, both including world premieres of Italian contemporary composers. A minimal sax, a project with minimalist music for saxophone quartet, has been released by Brilliant Classics in May 2019. “Grido”, a project with new works written for solo saxophone or saxophone and electronics has been published on a cd released by ARS PUBLICA in Autumn 2019.
